Chemical Ingredients and Benefits of: Cananga odorata (Lam) (Annonaceae) - Ylang-ylang

ylang flowers contain volatile oil, known as ylang oil, which have properties and a characteristic odor. Their results showed, ylang flower extract has the ability to reject the mosquito because of the content of linalool, geraniol, and eugenol. The results showed, when applying ylang flower extract in guinea pigs, the essential oils contained in extracts of ylang flowers seep into the pores and then evaporate into the air. This odor will be detected by chemical receptors (chemoreceptor) contained in the mosquito's body and into nerve impulses. That is then translated into the brain that would express to avoid mosquitoes suck blood without guinea pig again. The more active ingredients contained in extracts of ylang flower, the greater the ability of the extract is rejected mosquitoes.
